  • Providing Outpatient Therapeutic Services in Office and in the Community

    The Center for Counseling & Psychological Services (CCPS) provides a wide range of outpatient mental health services for both adults and children. Their dedicated staff is committed to helping individuals navigate life's challenges, offering office-based psychotherapy, co-occurring mental health and substance use treatment, and trauma-focused programs like LINCS. They also offer psychiatric services and psychological care in local primary care settings. For children and adolescents, CCPS provides office-based psychotherapy, school-based services, and specialized programs like Child and Family Trauma Treatment. Additionally, they have innovative programs like BHIP and the Wellness Collaborative, aiming to enhance overall well-being and empowerment for their clients. Finally, the Reach-Up Program collaborates with VT Economic Services Division to provide mental health and substance use support for eligible participants, using trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches.   See our Opportunites

  • Working with Clients who Experience Persistent Mental Health Disorders and Co-Occurring Substance Use Disorders

    The Community Support Program (CSP) offers comprehensive community-based services for individuals with persistent mental health needs. Services are tailored to each person's requirements and focus on health, wellness, and recovery. CSP provides housing assistance, health and wellness guidance, employment support, care coordination, and counseling services using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches. They also facilitate psychiatric support, medication management, and community and home-based support, including personal financial management. The program assists with finding competitive employment and offers residential support, including therapeutic homes, peer-supported housing, and crisis housing. Additionally, the Peer Support Program (PSP) aids various residential programs, including crisis beds, transitional housing, and gender-specific residences, providing psycho-social support and assistance with daily activities. The Tiny House Project, managed by Downstreet Housing, offers housing for formerly unhoused individuals, supported by peers and housing coordinators. Fresh Start House provides support for individuals who are difficult to house due to various challenges. Arid House is an abstinence-based residence for those attempting to maintain sobriety. Maple House is a peer-run crisis bed accessible through self-referral or team referrals, providing short-term crisis support. Heaton Street offers transitional beds for individuals transitioning from homelessness to housing.  See our Opportunites

  • Working with Clients who Experience Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities

    The Community Developmental Services Program (CDS) is dedicated to providing comprehensive services for individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism, and other pervasive developmental disorders in Washington County. Each person under CDS' care is assigned a Service Coordinator (Case Manager) who assists them in achieving success within their community through an Individual Support Agreement. United Employment Services helps individuals find and maintain employment, offering on-the-job training and ongoing support. CDS offers various residential options, including Group Living Homes with 24-hour staffing, Staffed Living in community homes or apartments, Shared Living Providers, and Supervised Assisted Living in individuals' own homes/apartments. They also provide one-on-one and classroom-based Community Services to promote skill development and independence. The Communication Services Program, a part of CDS, ensures individuals with complex communication needs can communicate effectively and advocate for their rights; following the TASH Resolution on Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Additionally, the Bridges Program offers care coordination for families with children under 22 with developmental disabilities who are eligible for Vermont Medicaid. Social and emotional skill-building groups are available to address the unique needs of individuals supported by CDS.    See our Opportunites

  • Nursing and Psychiatry

    Nursing Services at WCMHS collaborate in various settings, including group homes, developmental homes, crisis facilities, and shared housing, to meet the healthcare needs of clients. They work closely with WCMHS Psychiatry and offer medical and psychiatric assessments, medication training and oversight, triage of medication-related issues, consultations, health promotion, and education for both staff and clients. They also provide support for smoking cessation programs, monitor clients' health status, administer treatments, oversee special care procedures, and prepare medications for distribution. Additionally, the agency offers psychiatric services through three full-time practitioners available across all program divisions, ensuring clients have access to psychiatric care as needed, including in the Adult Outpatient Program, Community Developmental Services, Community Support Program, Children, Youth, and Family Services, and Intensive Care Services.   See our Opportunites

  • Working with Children

    Our Children, Youth & Family Services (CYFS) division goes beyond the ordinary to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. We offer a wide array of services, both within our offices and out in the community. Community and Home Based Services provide support and services to children and their families in the community as well as in their homes. The Child and Adolescent Services staff provide a variety of outpatient individual, group, and family counseling services using many therapeutic methods. Staff are also trained in providing therapy designed for children exposed to domestic violence. Community Developmental Services (CDS) works with CYFS to provide comprehensive services to children and youth with developmental disabilities, autism and other ongoing developmental disorders. Through the Early Childhood Services program, outreach specialists provide clinical and consultation services working with other local agencies. The focus is on young children, and their families, ages 0 to 6 experiencing, or at risk of, a serious emotional disturbance. These services are provided through contracts between a Local Education Agency (LEA) and WCMHS. Services are paid for by the LEA and delivered by WCMHS. WCMHS clinicians provide consultation and education to child care centers that are serving young children who are at risk of losing their placements. Children’s Navigation serves as a unified point of contact for youth and families seeking services with WCMHS. Navigation offers intake assessment as well as treatment recommendation and referrals to individuals, families and their existing support teams.  Navigators also provide short-term office- or community-based treatment as needed, including individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and service coordination. JOBS is an innovative supported employment and intensive case management service that targets youth ages 16 – 22 with severe emotional disturbance. The Doula Project includes three components – prenatal, labor and postpartum support. The components are approached with the understanding that women suffering from mental health issues, cognitive limitations, who are trauma survivors or who struggle with addictions have a unique set of needs. The Imagination Station is a specific kind of sensory room known as a Snoezelen Room and is the only one in Northern New England.   See our Opportunites

  • Working with Clients in Crisis

    Intensive Care Services (ICS) provides 24-hour emergency services for individuals and families throughout the community. The primary goal is to reduce the immediate effects of crisis and help facilitate stabilization. ICS also provides urgent-care programming to help provide crisis stabilization, assessment of needs, brief treatment, and referrals to longer-term services. The Emergency Screening Team is mobile and available 24-hours, 7-days-a-week providing crisis intervention and assessment program covering all of Washington County and the towns of Orange, Williamstown and Washington in Orange County. Brief Urgent Care services are short-term clinical services providing crisis stabilization, assessment of clinical needs, brief treatment, and referrals to longer-term services. Home Intervention (HI) is a short-term crisis stabilization/hospital diversion program providing supportive counseling to individuals who would otherwise require hospitalization. The program is a collaborative effort between the Intensive Care Services (ICS) and Community Support Program (CSP) divisions of WCMHS serving both WCMHS clients as well as the general public. The Lighthouse is a peer-supported Public Inebriate Program (PIP) providing emergency, nonmedical, social detoxification as an alternative to local- and state-level incarceration for those in need of supervision due to alcohol incapacitation.   • Benefits of Employment @ WCMHS

    Health Insurance

    WCMHS offers three tiers of medical insurance through CBA Blue  - Platinum, Gold, and Silver (HDHP). Premiums are pro-rated based on standard hours and vary based on plan selected. WCMHS covers 85% - 92% of bi-weekly premiums. 


    Coverage begins the first day of the month following one month of continuous full-time employment. Coverage available for dependents, including employee’s domestic partners. 


    Dental Insurance 

    (Northeast Delta Dental) & Vision Insurance (VSP)

    Begins the first day of the month following one month of continuous full-time employment.

    Coverage available for dependents, including employees’ domestic partners.


    Flexible Spending Accounts

    Whether a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account, members of the WCMHS Team  are able to set money aside from their paycheck on a pretax basis to go toward unreimbursed medical or dependent care expenses.


    Short & Long-Term Disability

    Coverage for Short and Long-Term-Disability is provided at no cost to eligible employees and is effective the first day of the month following 6 months of full-time employment. Short-term disability provides for 50% of basic weekly earnings following a one week waiting period (waived in the event of an accident), for up to 26 weeks. Long-term disability has a 180-day waiting period and provides for 60% of your basic monthly earnings.


    LIfe Insurance/Accidental Death & Dismemberment

    Coverage is provided for Life Insurance/Accidental Death & Dismemberment at no charge to employees and is effective the first day of the month following six months of full-time employment. The amount of insurance is two (2) times employees’ base annual salary, to a maximum of $300,000.


    Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

    The WCMHS Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free, short-term, confidential counseling and access to resources and specialist referrals. EAP is available to all members of an employee’s household.


    Paid Vacation & Sick Time

    Vacation and sick time are pro-rated according to the employees’ base weekly hours. You earn 12 days of sick and 12 days of vacation in your first year, which increases with length of service to a maximum of 18 days of sick and 24 days of vacation per year after four years of employment.

    WCMHS Educational Benefits provide for up to $1,600 per year for matriculating classes.


    403(b) Investment Program

    The WCMHS 403(b) Investment Program offers all employees (full- or part-time regular as well as hourly/per diem employees) the ability to begin contributing pre-tax earnings at date of hire. WCMHS matches 4.25% – 8% (based on length of service) of eligible gross earnings each year. To be eligible for the match, employees must have one year of service and must have worked at least 1,000 hours. Employee contributions are always 100% vested. Employer contribution is fully vested after 4 years of employment.
